During summer vacation last month, my family and I went to La Mesa Eco park which is within the La Mesa watershed at Novaliches Quezon City. The park is full of natural beauties and is a great opportunity for many things which you can't really do in city center. Before you enter the said park you will pay an entrance fee. 50 pesos each if you are living outside the Quezon City area, and 40 pesos if you are a Quezon City resident.
Here's a nice swimming pool complex a few minutes away from the foot after the entrance. There is a separate entrance fee for the swimming pool. As for adult, we pay 80 pesos each, and 50 pesos for each child (well I hope I remember it right). Just like at the entrance of the park, children 3 ft. below is free. My kids, niece, and nephew swim there over and over again until they got tired.
We also climb up to 120 steps upstairs (if my counting is right), just to see and take souvenir pictures of the La Mesa watershed (it supplies most of the water in Manila). But we found out that video or picture takings of the watershed is prohibited. It was stated at the warning sign which was posted at the gate of the dam. I don't know the reason why video or even taking pictures of the dam was prohibited, it wasn't written after all. Well, I do hope that they will find time to also post the reason why it wasn't allowed aside from the post that stating it was prohibited, so everyone who will see that sign will not be confuse at all.
Anyway that thing doesn't spoil our moment. We enjoy going up and down the 120 steps, its like an exercise for us, though it was a really very tiring activity. I also saw there number of couples which are taking pictorials of their prenuptial pictures. I guess its because of the beautiful scenery's here. You could have fun in it by feeling away from the city center. The only thing you can see are trees, plants, and greens all around.
Here are many gorgeous flowers, giant trees, little fish and different kinds of plants and scenic views around. There are places for sports such as wall climbing, pull up, rope climbing are available around La Mesa Eco park. Here is the Petron fitness and mountain bike trail. You can enjoy a full body work out under the shades of the trees. You can tour around there with your bike or just on foot.
There is a Super ferry boating lagoon, where you can enjoy a paddle boat ride. There are about 2 hectares of Shell flower terraces which according to the internet was actually the dam wall reservoir. There is a mini playground where children can play. My kids, niece and nephew play there too. There's a number of open areas amidst the trees, shrubs, and other greenery. It is the Lopez picnic ground. It was a picnic spots with grilling facilities underneath a forest of varied trees. There are picnic tables in a number of places. Faucets / water stations are found all over the place, good for washing hands, plates or anything of that sort.
I also saw there nipa huts, where you may also take souvenir pictures. The real view that I saw at the Eco park was not as beautiful as what I saw in the pictures which I downloaded at the internet. But overview to it, i might say that the wonders and beauty of the nature is still there. Below this review I will show some of the pictures which I downloaded at the internet and also some of the pictures that we have taken when we went there.
